
Tip 6.1 How do I organize and/or save my favorite websites as bookmarks?
As you surf the Web, sometimes you find a site that you want to be able to go back to easily. With Netscape's Bookmarks and Internet Explorer's favorites you can save a URL (Website address) very easily. Before your list grows, you should think about organizing you bookmarks and favorites to save time and aggravation down the road. Bookmarking and adding to favorites is one of the best time saving features in Netscape and Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer Users:
Click on Favorites, then click on Add To Favorites. You can also use the keyboard
shortcut by hitting the control key and the D together.
To organize favorites in Internet Explorer, click on the Favorites menu, then click on organize favorites. The image may be different if you are using IE 4.0. The following procedure will work with versions 4.0 and 5.0. On the top folder, click on it and highlight it. Right click with your mouse and select, Create New Folder or New, then Folder. Enter the name of the new folder. To nest folders inside of other folders, highlight the folder you want to contain a new folder, then right click your mouse and select Create New Folder. To see what is inside of a folder, click on the folder and it will open up and show you what is inside of it. To move folders and favorites, the drag and drop procedure will work here. Click and hold on the item that you want to move, then move it to where you want it to be.
Netscape Users:
All you will need to do is to click on Bookmark. This will open a drop down
menu and you can click on Add Bookmark. As a keyboard shortcut, when you are
on a page that you would like to save, you can just hit the control key and
D together to add a bookmark.
Before your list of bookmarks grows to an unmanageable jungle, take the time to set up folders to store your bookmarks. Think about what Websites you will be bookmarking. To organize your bookmarks in Netscape, click on Bookmarks, then Edit Bookmarks. To create a new folder, just highlight the top folder, then right click on your mouse and select New Folder. In the new window type in the name of the folder that you want. To create folders inside of folders, highlight the location of the new folder that you want and right click, then select New Folder.
