Tape Drives - We have struggled over the years to find a reliable, yet inexpensive, backup solution. Without much success. We have tried Jazz drives, Zip Drives, CD ROM Burners, and various tape drives to no avail. Consequently, we strongly suggest that you regularly check your tapes and make sure your data exists and is not corrupted. Check the log for errors or look on the tape itself to see what's there. You should occasionally restore a file to your hard drive just to be sure. Our experience has been that about half of the time we are handed a tape to restore data, the tape does not have the required data on it. You will greatly increase your chances of having a good backup if you are vigilant in checking your tapes.
