What's New - More on Windows 2000

works with multiple servers and is similar to Novell's Directory Services. Terminal Services allows multiple users to access your server over a phone line or through the Internet (similar to how PC Anywhere works on a PC). I mentioned in our past newsletter that I don't recommend that you upgrade anything on a computer unless you have a good reason to do so. Terminal Services is such a powerful addition to Windows 2000 that this feature alone should cause every business with multiple locations, traveling employees or the need to have vendors or customers access their systems to take a good look at Windows 2000 Server. Terminal Services could reduce the cost of how your field is communicating with the home office and significantly increase the productivity in the field.
Funny Bone
As you may remember, we discussed Windows 2000 Professional, the desktop version of Windows 2000, in our January newsletter. In this issue I'd like to talk about Windows 2000 for Servers. There are three versions of this product: Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Windows 2000 Datacenter Server. The products are very similar in functionality. 10 Men, 1 Woman
There were 11 people hanging on to a single rope that suspended them from a helicopter trying to bring them to safety. Ten were men; one was a woman. They all decided that one person would have to let go because if they didn't, the rope would break and all of them would die.
No one could decided who it should be. Finally the woman gave a really touching speech, saying how she would give up her life to save the others, because women were used to giving things up for their husbands and children and giving in to men.
All of the men started clapping.

Viruses are still a problem. Because of a nasty virus, two of our customers lost three hard drives and everything on them since our last newsletter. On one of the computers, the client had Norton Anti Virus installed and working, however the virus definition hadn't been updated for two years. I can't stress
enough how vigilant that you/we need to be in fighting off viruses. If you don't have reliable virus software, get it. If you haven't updated your virus definitions, do it (regularly). If you don't know how to do either of these tasks, call me. I'll walk you through it on the phone.
